Gerbils are relatively easy to care for, however, they still need a place to live, bedding to burrow in, toys to entertain them, a constant supply of food and water, occasional vet care, and lots of love, care and affection. In my kennel I always give individual care to each animal.
I always try to imitate the natural environment of the Mongolian gerbil by providing large enclosures, deep layers of bedding to burrow in, warm nests, fresh supplies of water in a natural way, and exercise. I keep my gerbil room at low humidity and moderate temperatures; with humidity between 30-40 percent, and temperature between 65-70 degrees fahrenheit. On the following pages I will guide you through all the aspects of gerbil care, share my methods, and list the pros and cons. I hope my pages will educate you on how to care for gerbils. |
